Went to town to spend a dollar and came home with an ......... Apple?!

 

What an exciting evening! It all started with me opening an e-mail offer from my cell phone provider. It said they had limited-time offers on smartphones including the Samsung Admire for just 99 cents (with a 2 year agreement.) I've never owned a smartphone and a dollar was too tempting! So I towed the boys and myself to town to check it out while Anthony went fishing. While browsing the phones and waiting for my name to be called, I came across the iPhones and realized the iPhone 4 was only $49 (with the 2 year agreement.) I called my expert brother and Father for some information. Then I called my husband for permission. Lol. I was there after closing time asking a lot of questions to find out exactly how much more my bill would be each month. When they told me it would just be eleven dollars more, my mind was made up. The only bummer is since May, they now charge a one-time renewal fee of $18 (that will be added to next month's bill) even though I've been a customer there since I was 18. Still, I got a pretty sweet deal and I'm one happy girl tonight! I went to Wal-Mart and picked out a cute case and I'm having fun exploring the phone. Jameson is thrilled also about his "new" Razr (my old phone I gave to him.) Gotta go and play with my new toy some more! =)

A little motivation for you! ("Jesus Said It")

I'm sharing a favorite of mine with you today. This one doesn't get old! Me and the boys can get some major cleaning (and shouting:) done to this one! I love to watch them book it around the coffee table and stop for me to "pray" for them so they can keep on "shouting" down the hall! = )

Funny post title, right?! Check out what I've been picking from our garden! We're enjoying the fruits of my labor over here! (Ha Ha, Anthony!) The green beans have to be picked every other day or so. The pickles are plentiful also. Our squash plants are massive and the tomato plants look gorgeous! Come on and ripen, little dudes....I can't wait to slice, salt and savor you! =c) We've also got little pepper and okra plants that are growing slowly but surely. We could use some rain!

Father's Day 2012

I know, I know! It's been a while since I posted on here. It seems this Summer is getting off to a busy start. We had a good Father's Day. The Sargent clan went out to Denny's Saturday night and enjoyed a nice dinner together. The boys and I worked hard on getting all of Anthony's gifts finished that day. We bought him a knife that says "Dad" on the blade and the tin that it comes in. (He collects them.) I found a black tee shirt for $0.50 at Wal-Mart and couldn't leave it there for that price. I put the boys' hand prints on it as well as a cute saying. He also got a framed picture of the three of them. I figured it would be nice to set on his desk at work. His last gift, a coffee mug with Jameson & Landon's picture on it, still has to be picked up from Louisville. I took the boys to Portrait Innovations last Thursday to get their pictures made. You just can't beat that HUGE package for $9.95 which included 5 Father's Day cards as well as the mug. Anthony loved all of his gifts and was especially surprised by the tee shirt. Jameson was extremely excited to give them to his Dad! When I woke him up Sunday morning and told him it was Father's Day, he asked, (with Anthony in the room) "Is he gonna take his knife to Church?" Ha Ha! He's still learning to keep secrets and finds it hard to wait to give gifts to people! After Church, we went to Wendy's with Mom, Dad and Lili and also stopped by the cemetery to visit my Father-in-law's grave on the way home.

I decided to write a piece about Anthony and Dad. Some times it's easier to write your feelings than to say them. So if you want to skip the mush (lol) and go directly to the pictures, here's your chance!

I'm thankful for the wonderful Daddy our sons have! He's a hard worker and loves his boys with all of his heart. They are thrilled when they see his truck pull in the drive each evening and anxiously wait for him to walk through the door!  He gives them baths and puts them up on his shoulder and "flies" each of them through the house with their hooded towels on. I can't tell you how much they love that! (I do too :) He took them fishing in our pond this evening. We look forward to many more fishing and camping trips in the years to come! I'm so glad our boys have a Holiness Father to look up to. I admire his humility and willingness to obey God. He has the biggest heart of any man I know. I love you, babe! Jameson and Landon are two blessed little boys! =)

I'm thankful for the wonderful Dad I have, too. He worked hard to provide for us, even at jobs he hated some times. He went to college (to get away from the loathed factory work and into some thing he enjoyed) while working a job AND pastoring a Church. I cannot imagine the stress he endured during that period! He wrote letters to me that are filled with love and biblical instruction. I can't tell you how precious those letters are to me! He loved and respected my Mother. That alone is a priceless gift in itself. He made us girls feel special, too, even bringing flowers home for us occasionally. Little things mean a lot and stay in your memory. It's exciting to watch him in his role as "Pop" to my boys and Josh's girls now! I absolutely love to sing with him and Sarah and goof off together while we practice our songs. He's my favorite song leader and Sunday school teacher (but I am biased!) I'm so thankful for his constant prayers for us and his consistency to God. I love you, Dad and I'm proud to call you mine! I need to stop now and let you deflate that head a little bit. (Hee, hee, hee!) 

I hope every one had a happy Father's Day and gave yours a big hug! For those of you who have Dad's up in Heaven and couldn't give yours a hug, I hope you felt God's hug of comfort and peace!

Memorial Day Trip to the Lake!

We wanted to do some thing fun together on Memorial Day so Anthony suggested a trip to the lake. I asked him to invite Shelly, my sister-in-law. She came along with us and I'm so glad she did. We stopped by the cemetery to visit my Mom and Dad-in-law's grave first. We didn't arrive at the lake until 7:00 pm but it was perfect since the temperature was bearable and the water was nice and calm. We had an absolute BLAST for two hours out there! I grew a fondness for the boat (lol) and now see it as "ours" and not just "his". =) Although I didn't pack extra clothes for myself, I couldn't resist getting in the water and Shelly wasn't far behind me. We rode home wet but it was worth it! Jameson was apprehensive about almost every thing- backing the boat into the water, (He thought the truck was going in the lake!) the nose of the boat tipping upward during the ride, me being in the lake, ("No, Mom! You're gonna float away! I'll rescue you!") and getting in the water was another story! He told us he wanted in, but as soon as Anthony lowered him to me and Shelly, he FREAKED out, thinking he was going to sink. I'm hoping he'll get over his fears and I might try using a float next time to ease his anxiety. Landon, on the other hand, couldn't get enough of all of it! You should have seen his smile when the boat took off. He LOVED it! We had to keep a close eye on him because he was fearless. He loved being in the lake with us and complained when we made him get back in the boat. We did some fishing but none of us caught any thing. The riding was probably the most fun part but that water sure felt awesome! My arms a little sore today from swimming but I can't wait to go back. We're planning an overnight trip later this year, maybe to Rough River. Shelly and I are already thinking of what to buy and bring along with us this time! (including water shoes....flip flops didn't work so well! Ha!)

Pieces of My Day....

I found these and put them in a vase. I also mowed the pretty lawn you see in the background! LOL =) Since Anthony was up to elbows in grease, he asked me to do it for him while he went to buy a part for his boat trailer. That way, he wouldn't be rushed getting ready for the assisted living home service this evening.

One of my favorite flowers, these tiger lilies gave my dining room a Summery feeling. 

The best part is I picked them in my own yard!

I caught this big bass from our pond literally as soon as I put my line in! Come on out to Young's Pay Pond and you won't be disappointed! LOL =) I guess I could've grilled him up for dinner if I didn't already have barbecued ribs in the crock pot. By the way, Anthony is pretty jealous about this catch!

I watered my little okra and pepper plants. Come on, little guys!
